When an outdoor smoker isn’t an option, this mouthwatering molasses brisket is the next best thing. A little liquid smoke will infuse the brisket with rich BBQ flavor and braising it in the crockpot ensures it will be super tender and juicy!
1 ButcherBox Brisket
1 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 Tbsp coriander
1 Tbsp ginger powder
1 Tbsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
3 Tbsp liquid smoke (in the Bbq sauce section of the supermarket)
½ c molasses
¼ c tomato paste
2 c beef stock
1 onion, sliced
1 carrot, chopped
Mix all spices and rub all over brisket. Preheat cast iron pan and sear brisket on all sides. Set aside.
Turn crockpot on high and place onions, carrots, molasses, liquid smoke, tomato paste and beef stock inside. Mix well.
Add brisket to crockpot so brisket is covered ⅔ of the way. Cook on high for 2 hours, then reduce cooking setting to low, and cook for 4 more hours or until brisket is fork-tender.
Let brisket cool in crockpot liquid. Slice in half, then slice thinly against the grain.
Place sauce and vegetables in food processer and puree until smooth. Reheat sauce and serve over the top of the sliced brisket. Happy Eating!
